This years Gala Party for Ballantrae Gala Week.

The village of Ballantrae is gearing up for a fun filled Gala Week which gets underway on Saturday.

Events throughout the week will ensure people of all ages are entertained.

This year’s Gala Party are Queen Chloe Hibbins, King Kieren McIlwraith, Attendants Jenna MacKinnon and Sophie Jenkins and Pages Frankie Rennie and Noah Jenkins.

They will get proceedings underway on Saturday 27th June at 2pm in the park when they are introduced to the crowds. Following this there will be a Parade of Floats and a Fancy Dress competition with prizes for winners in both before a BBQ and refreshments.

On Sunday 28th June there will be a Concert of Praise in Ballantrae church at 7pm.

Monday 29th at 7pm the organisers are hosting a Family Fortunes evening at 7pm in the Community Centre. There will be eight families of five (a mixture of adults and children) playing against each other until the winning family claim the £50 prize. Tickets are £3 per adult and £1 per child, Pimms, Non Alcoholic drinks and nibbles are included in the ticket price.

From Tuesday 30th June until Friday July 3 the Annual Football Tournament sponsored by McCulloch Rail will be held in the park from 7pm, with the Final being played on the Friday evening.

Saturday July 4 from 1pm onwards is the big Gala Day itself in the village. Due to demand we will have more stalls than ever this year and this promises to be an eventful day.

As well as the many stalls containing various fresh produce, homebaking, raffles, tombola, hampers, bottle stall, crafts and much more, there will be the tea tent serving fresh coffee and homebaking, beer tent, Gourmet Food Van serving anything from Burgers to Al a Carte (why not order your evening meal), Belly Dancing Troupe called Twisted Tails from Edinburgh, Coastguard, Air Cadets, Trophy Tug-o-War and a very special Gala Girl Surprise!! And last but not least, there will also be a huge water slide, waterballs and a model boats display. Organisers just hope they can fit it all in!

After the fun of Gala Day, on the Saturday evening the annual Gala Dance will take place from 7pm-11.45pm with music from Destination Anywhere, which will be held in the Community Centre this year with numbers being more limited as a result.

The event is currently sold out but anyone wishing to go on a waiting list can contact either Sharon on 07798710481 or Fiona on 07884232452. Please ensure you have ticket on the night and all under 25s bring ID. Gala Week is rounded off on Sunday July 5th with the Louise Knox Memorial Bowler/Non Bowler competition from 1pm at the bowling green which is sponsored by G McIlwraith fishmonger in what is a fun family event to round off the week.

Organisers hope for two things- a good turnout and some sunshine!
