Blackout security concerns

A BLACKOUT in some of Girvan’s streets has led to concerns about security and the safety of pedestrains at night.

Streetlights around The Avenue, Hamilton Street and Montgomery Street area of the town have not been working since the New Year with one resident saying it is a “health and safety and security issue”.

Community representatives have now called for a contract between the local authority and Scottish Power which allows 28 days before faults are repaired to be reviewed.
