Burger award for celebrated local Carrick butcher

Local butchers have received a top award this week at the 2013 Scottish Craft Butchers Awards.

The Cairnhill Steakburger was one of the award winning products that proved to be the perfect blend in an evaluation held in Fife in March.

The award was presented to local butchers We Hae Meat on Sunday 12th May at the biennial Scottish Meat Trade Fair held at the Dewars Centre, Perth.

A team of judges from the meat trade, catering and consumer sectors evaluated more than 200 speciality burgers, speciality sausages and kitchen ready products at the event held at the home of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.

At the presentation Ian Faulds, President of the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders said: “These Craft Butcher Awards provide an ideal stage to recognise the very best products made by Scotland’s craft butchers.

“These are tried and proven products that the butcher has finely tuned with the constructive feedback from their customers and these products provide the perfect incentive for customers make the special effort to shop at their local butcher.

Once again we have witnessed high levels of skill and innovation prevalent among the independent butcher’s sector.

“I am certain that this event leads to consumers being tempted with exciting new products whilst shopping at the local butcher.”
