Last week a group of S2 Carrick Academy students won the annual Ayrshire Go4SET Challenge.

The competition is aimed at young people who are interested in science, engineering and technology and they had to research, design and build a model of an environmentally friendly hotel.

On the day the students had to present their project to a panel of industry experts who all agreed that their design was the best of the nine schools on show.

The six students, Sarah McElroy, Molly McMillan, Rebecca McGill, Keelan McCartney, Jack McCormick and Michael McCormick, were a credit to themselves and their school and will now go on to represent Ayrshire in the national final in Edinburgh on June 5.
