Girvan Civic Week this year starts on Sunday 23rd June with the crowning of the King and Queen on the stage at Gig on the Green at 1.45pm.
After the crowning an open topped car will take them round the usual route.
This year’s parade will be made up of vintage cars - why not decorate your car or vehicle and join the parade.
There follows a week of events: Tuesday 25th June, 6pm, Pet Show, Putting Green; Wednesday 26th 2pm, Senior Citizens Party, Catholic Hall (Tickets from CAN Shop); Wednesday 26th 6pm; ACE Triathlon, Boating Lake. (12-18 years); Thursday 27th 6pm; Car Treasure Hunt, Harbour Car Park; Friday 28th 8pm, Civic Week Pool, Hamilton Arms Hotel; Saturday 29th 6pm; Bowling Final, Bowling Green; Sunday 30th 3pm; Football Final, Victory Park; Monday 1st July, 6pm; Civic Week Dominoes, The Vaults.
The royal party will be in attendance at all events.
The civic week football is on each evening at Victory Park. This is a keenly contested competition and a good crowd can be found shouting their team on each night!
The final is played on the Sunday afternoon between the two top teams.
All sorts of pets turn up for the pet show which is sponsored by The Pet Shop with prizes in each category.
Free tickets can be collected from the CAN Shop for the well catered, well attended and well entertained Senior Citizen Party!
The ACE triathlon was inaugurated last year and pedalling and paddling are just two of the events which had lots of fit youngsters taking part - well worth taking part or watching !
Civic Week just wouldn’t be Civic Week without the car treasure hunt. Well in excess of 20 cars take part each year and young and old thoroughly enjoy both the driving and the brain teasers set out for them to skilfully manoeuvre before time up.
Another keenly contested evening is the Pool Competition in the Hamilton Arms on Friday not forgetting the dominoes at the vaults on the following Monday.
The bowlers compete throughout the week with their final on Saturday evening.
