Dipple pair fail to appear for trial date

Two women who featured in a Channel 5 documentary while they lived in Girvan failed to turn up for a scheduled court appearance.

Janet Perrie, aged 59 and Fiona Hope, 51, rented a cottage at the Dipple, near Girvan in the summer of 2013 from landlord Colin Burns.

The pair were due to stand trial at Ayr Sheriff Court on Thursday March 5 charged with theft from a house in Girvan and wilfully and recklessly damaging the property including smashing a pool table.

The pair have pled not guilty to both of the charges.

However, neither of the two turned up at Ayr last week with the court hearing the pair are now living in Alston Moor in Cumbria and were unable to travel due to being under several feet of snow in recent days.

Sheriff Montgomery was shown pictures of the snow by lawyers representing each of them before the trial was adjourned following discussions with a new date set for Monday May 11.
