Driving tests to resume ‘within weeks’

DRIVING tests will resume in Cumnock and Girvan within the next few weeks.

The Driving Standards Agency closed Cumnock and Girvan Driving Test Centres in January 2011.

Carrick MP Sandra Osborne managed to secure a debate in Parliament (March 2011) and called on the Government to reverse the closure.

The Transport Minister indicated during the debate that tests would be reinstated in Cumnock and Girvan.

He has now confirmed that tests will be brought back to both areas within the next few weeks.

Sandra Osborne said: “I was delighted to receive confirmation from the Transport Minister this week that the Driving Standards Agency plans to resume testing in Cumnock in around six weeks time and by the end of July in Girvan.

“Testing will take place from the former test centres at Hall Terrace, Cumnock and the Carrick Centre, Girvan.”
