On 1st April 2017 Girvan Rotary will be having their annual Girvan Beach Clean.

The club would like to get the beach looking good for the summer visitors are asking any locals who are like-minded to meet up at Ainsley Car Park at 10.30am. They will walk along the beach to the harbour picking up all the litter they can find. the club will provide Pickers and Bags.

Other Ayrshire Rotary clubs will cover beaches at Newton, Bentfield, Heads of Ayr, Fisherton, Dunure, Croy, Turnberry, Dunnymuck, Chapledonan, Doonfoot, Craig Tara, Prestwick, Troon and Barassie.

Girvan beach is a beautiful stretch of sand and if you arrived as a tourist you would initially be very impressed, however as you step onto the beach and see the amount of ‘rubbish’ you might change your mind!

On a survey visit to the beach club members met Karen and Ewan Trainer who live just outside Dailly. As they walked the beach on a crisp Sunday morning Ewan wished us all the best in our endeavours to tidy up the beach and said he would make every effort to join us in April, why not make this wonderful resource look its best, he commented.
