First meeting for history society

THE first meeting for 2012 of the Girvan and District History Society society is in the McKechnie Institute, Dalrymple Street, Girvan on Thursday, January 26 at 7.30pm.

The guest speaker will be local man Denis Gallacher who in his early seventies, divides his time between tuning and racing motorcycles and fundraising for cancer care.

Denis will have one of his 350cc Honda racing machines on display in the building.

This is a story full of amusing and amazing anecdotes with memories and observations to interest everyone. Denis began racing in 1957 and recently he won the Cookstown 100 in 2010 and was placed 8th overall in the 2011 Ulster Grand Prix.

Entrance:£1 Members, £2 non-Members. Includes a cup of tea and a biscuit. All interested parties most welcome.
