After being hit with a month’s suspension by South Ayrshire Council’s licensing board, those running a Girvan nightclub have one message this week - we’ll be back.

As Flix’s fun bar prepares to re-open this Friday night (May 29), owner Forbes Robertson and premises licence holder John Stewart posed outside the premises this week with legendary movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who’s “I’ll be Back” line in The Terminator has become one of cinema’s iconic phrases.

Describing themselves as the “place to be” Forbes and John are looking forward to welcoming everyone back.

Owner Forbes said: “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again as we’re one big family in here so hopefully folk will be out at the weekend.”

Forbes also addressed the concerns of the police, who had wanted it shut down over several incidents over the last year, but the licensing board chose to only suspend the licence for a month.

Forbes said: “We’ve upped the CCTV cameras at the place and we’ve chosen to use metal detectors at the door even though we don’t have to.”

John added: “Along with my wife Shona, I’d like to thank everyone for their messages of support since we’ve been shut and we’re looking forward to re-opening.”
