A footcare service for the over 55’s is set to start in Maybole next week after the service was successful in Girvan recently.

The service will begin on Tuesday 14th October at Maybole Town Hall and is ran by Voluntary Action South Ayrshire.

The service is set to be held every Tuesday at the town hall with each session costing £5.

The team will provide you with a free set of nail clippers and emery board worth £12.95 at your first appointment.

Each appointment lasts half an hour with VASA saying that the service they provide is also a social one to people in the community as cutting toe nails and providing foot care.

Volunteers and workers who have been trained by the NHS poditary team deliver the footcare service and you can book an appointment by phoning Faith or Karen on 01292 281800 and they can also provide you with more information.

VASA have seen a requirement for a clinic in the Maybole area due to the plans from the NHS which will see them discharging their low to moderate risk patients, so the facility that will be provided on a weekly basis at the Town Hall will be of service to those people when they have been discharged from the NHS.

The footcare service for the over 55s has proved to be a big success in Girvan with VASA saying they were inundated with calls from people looking to book appointments at the refurbished Townhouse in Knockcushan Street.

VASA hope that the Maybole service will be similarly successful and provide a much needed and required service to the local people as well as boosting social interaction.
