Last week saw the first of four international meetings take place at Girvan Academy. Students from Sweden, Italy, Spain and Scotland worked on the project titled “Education to Employment”. The programme was greatly enhanced by input from Skills Development Scotland, a tour of Trump Turnberry and Culzean Country park and castle. The focus was identifying local career opportunities, the qualifications, skills and strengths employers are looking for , as well as CV and interview preparation. Girvan Academy pupils are now preparing for the second international meeting which will take then to Italy during the Easter Holidays. Spain and Sweden meetings are planned for March/April 2016.

Apart from gaining a better insight into the global employment situation, pupils have clearly forged hopefully long-lasting connections with their peers for the other countries involved.
