REBELS against rubbish were out in force at the weekend as community members conducted a litter pick around Girvan.

The 19-strong group, organised by Asda and bolstered by members of Girvan Kidz Klub, began at Hawthorn Drive at 11am on Sunday September 9, cleaning up the area around Coalpotts Road, Victory Park and the Bank Burn, and culminated at Asda on Girvan’s Vicarton Street at 1pm for tea, coffee, juice and cupcakes made by Kidz Klub founder Fiona McLean.

Sharon Adams, Asda Girvan’s Community Life Champion, said: “I would like to thank everybody who came to help, it was nice to see so many children come and help clean up the streets.”

In total they lifted a small trailer-full of rubbish bags.
