Girvan Lifeboat come to the aid of fishermen at Dunure

A fourteen foot dory with two men aboard motored out of Dunure Harbour last Tuesday 21st April for a day’s fishing.

By nine o’clock at night the men were returning to base and on approaching the rocky entrance to Dunure Harbour realised that they were inexperienced, there were rocks about and not being local decided to phone for assistance.

The Girvan lifeboat was launched under Deputy Coxswain Gary McGarvie and rushed to the scene.

After assessing the situation the Deputy Coxswain transferred one of his crew to the dory to safely guide it back into harbour.

The fishermen did not manage to catch any fish but were relieved to see the Girvan lifeboat come onto the scene.
