GARDENING enthusiasts will take part in Diamond jubilation more than twice over as Girvan Flower Show celebrates its 160th anniversary this weekend.
As well as more than 10 different trophies and awards for flowers and plants, the event will see a cookery competition with an Olympic theme, classes for handicrafts, home baking and preserves, and children’s classes for those aged under 15.
Organised by Girvan and District Horticultural Society, this year’s event will take place at Girvan’s North Parish Church Hall on Saturday from 2pm. Admission costs £1.50 per adult and 50p per unaccompanied child, while accompanied children go free.
Competitors are reminded to allow sufficent time to stage entries as the hall will be closed at 9pm sharp on Friday evening.
Exhibits will be accepted up to 9.45am on Saturday August 11, and must be lodged with Mrs K Drummond of 13 Bridge Street, Girvan.
