The Rotary Club of Girvan, last week in the Royal Hotel of Girvan handed over £2000 to the Children’s Charity C.H.A.S. The cash was handed over to Samantha Reilly , the senior fund raising coordinator for the charity .

C.H.A.S. is the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland, a Charity which provides Hospice services in Scotland for young people with life shortening conditions. They run two Hospices, one in Kinross called Rachael House and one in Balloch, called Robin House. Samantha travelled from Glasgow to collect the Cheque on behalf of the charity.

Before Christmas, the Rotary Club spent four nights going round the streets of Girvan and Dailly with their Santa’s Sleigh and collecting cans. It is difficult to be sure, but we think the Sleigh has been going out round the streets for close on 25 years – Does anyone remember when it started? The club would like to thank the local people of those two towns for the enormous kindness and generosity by coming to the door and putting their precious Christmas cash in our cans.

Some people in the towns collect their coppers and 5p coins all year and bring them out to Santa in his Sleigh – a great idea. We know who you are, please start again for next year.
