Staff and customers at M+Co in Girvan are celebrating this month after their fundraising efforts helped raise £1.6 million for Cancer Research UK.
M+Co’s Girvan store which is one of over 250 stores the fashion retailer has throughout the UK helped contribute £5,042 towards the magnificent sum raised to help beat cancer sooner.
The team at Girvan have raised their donation through raffles, hampers, fashion shows, dress ups and providing donation stations in store for the public to donate quality items to help stock Cancer Research UK’s shops.
M+Co Area manager Sandra McPherson said:
“The generosity of our staff and customers is truly inspiring and they have pulled out all the stops to raise this magnificent sum. Everyone knows someone affected by cancer and that’s why we want to do our bit- thank you to all our customers who have supported us!”
Although the number of people being diagnosed with cancer is going up, the good news is that thanks to research survival rates have doubled in the past 40 years. More people across the UK are now beating the disease than ever before. Cancer Research UK’s work is at the heart of that progress.
Caroline Silke, Cancer Research UK Head of Corporate Partnerships said:
“We are extremely grateful for all the time and effort invested by the staff and customers at M+Co in Girvan.
“Everyone should be extremely proud of their achievement. All funds raised will go towards the charity’s research to beat over 200 types of cancer, helping to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”
Cancer Research UK receives no Government funding for its ground breaking research. So funds raised through supporters like M+Co and their customers is crucial to the work of doctors, nurses and scientists who work day and night to fight cancer on all fronts
