Girvan’s very own Murray and Tait solicitors are participating in Will Aid’s “Make A Will” initiative throughout the month of November.
And instead of charging their normal fee, they will suggest will-makers donate a similar amount to Will Aid.
The “Make a Will” campaign encourages people to write a proper will to protect their loved ones and is celebrating its 25th anniversary and raised over £2m for good causes last year.
The solicitors who are based at 146 Dalrymple Street in the town, will help you ensure that loved ones are left in doubt as to who inherits what.
The suggested amount for people to donate to Will Aid is £90 for a single will and £135 for mirror wills.
The money raised is shared by nine UK charities that carry out life changing work here in the UK and around the world, including Age UK, Christian Aid and Save the Children.
Unless you make a proper Will, your worldly goods will be distributed according to the laws of intestacy. Not only can this mean that the people you wanted to benefit might not do so, but it can also bring your loved ones additional stress and heartache sorting out the mess at a time when they are least equipped to cope.
Even if you have a Will it is important to keep it up to date. Experts suggest that a Will is reviewed every five years and updated as and when circumstances change.
Shirley Marsland, campaign manager for Will Aid says:
“Will Aid offers readers a unique opportunity to get an affordable Will with one of our friendly and approachable solicitors. They are giving their time without any payment to help you look after your loved ones and to support some very worthwhile causes. It’s your chance to properly provide for your nearest and dearest and, at the same time, to help others in need.
