A GOLDEN wedding couple from Dailly had an unexpected Saturday night out at the weekend when they walked into a surprise party in celebration of their 50-year milestone.

Gee and Jean McCulloch, Dailly residents throughout their married life, said their vows at Dailly Parish Church on October 6, 1962, aged just 20 and 19 respectively.

Coaxed out by their daughter Helen and grandson Aiden on the promise of an anniversary meal on Saturday, the pair were shocked to find their loved ones concealed in the function room of Girvan’s Hamilton Arms Hotel eagerly awaiting their arrival.

“I didn’t know anything!” said Jean. “I said to my grandson when we were in the car that I was ready for my dinner and he didn’t say a thing! When I first came in I thought, ‘It’s busy tonight!’ It was a good surprise.”

Congratulations also to Roy and Ina Hannah who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently.

The couple were married on September 28, 1962 by Rev Douglas at Cargill Church, Maybole.

Roy and Ina celebrated their 50 years together with a family anniversary meal at Hollybush Inn.
