Grand time for Rotary sleigh

Again the Rotary Club of Girvan has taken Santa’s Sleigh round Girvan and Dailly just before Christmas. And how generous the locals residents have been.

£2000 was collected and that was in the week just before Christmas remember – Well done Girvan and Dailly!

The cash collected will be donated to CHAS, the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland and many doors were opened and cash inserted into the CHAS cans, on the now, very traditional, street collection.

This year the Sleigh had better weather than in the last 4 years and we were delighted to see so many kids come out to meet Santa, we were delighted to see them, Dailly kids numbers were just great.

The Sleigh also spent the Saturday before Christmas at ASDA Girvan where so many shoppers recognised Doctor Tom Smith and Rev Jim Guthrie with their bucket.

The Rotary would like to thank ASDA for that opportunity .

The Sleigh was on the road for three nights and after the Collection Team had done their good work they made their way on two evenings to the very hospitable Nancy Rae the Head Chef of the Royal Hotel in Girvan who made supper for the Helpers on the other evening the ‘Purvey‘ was produced by Mrs Rhona McKinnon of The Avenue Girvan, and what a great spread.
