15 year-old seriously injured in road crash

Police are appealing for information following a serious road crash in Ayrshire on Saturday 31 May 2014 in which a 15 year old boy was seriously injured.

At around 10pm on Saturday 31 May, the 15 year old boy was driving a Vauxhall Corsa south on the A713, south of Dalmellington, Ayrshire, when it would appear that he lost control of thte vehicle, left the carriageway and collided with trees before landing in a burn down an embankment.

The driver, who was thrown from car, was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital, suffering from serious head and pelvic injuries. Hospital staff describe his condition as serious but stable.

There were two other 15 year old boys in the car at the time. Both were treated at Crosshouse hospital for minor injuries and will be released after treatment.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Anyone with information that will assist officers with their enquiry is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine on the non-emergency number 101.
