Ailsa Craig available for cut price purchase

editorial image

Ailsa Craig is back on the market at a bargain price of £1.5 million.

The volcanic plug 10 miles of the coast from Girvan is back on the books of luxury estate agents Vladi Private Islands Ltd and Knight Frank, but has plummeted in price from the £2.5m original.

Ailsa’s nearly 220 acres houses cottage accommodation, a ruined castle, a curling stone quarry, and a lighthouse – with the gannets any potential owner’s only neighbours.

And while the island’s total rental value is estimated at £26,000 a year, further riches could await any new inhabitant, as the rumour of a buried treasure on Ailsa Craig has been alive for centuries.
