Ayrshire colleges welcome OBE to Partnership Board

Efforts to merge three Ayrshire colleges have taken a step forward with the appointment of an officer to oversee regional planning.

Russel Griggs was announced as Chair of the Ayrshire colleges Partnership Board – which oversees preparations to merge Ayr and Kilmarnock colleges and James Watt College’s North Ayrshire campuses in August next year – by Cabinet Secretary for Education Michael Russell.

Members of the Partnership Board said they were very much looking forward to working with the marketing professional and OBE – who was selected by the Scottish Government to undertake an independent review of college governance earlier this year.

Diane Rawlinson, Principal of Ayr College, said: “Professor Griggs has a wealth of experience and skills to bring to Ayrshire and we will welcome his input and leadership.

“We are committed as a region to the creation of a new college for Ayrshire and believe that Professor Griggs will provide invaluable support to help us achieve our goal.”
