Ayrshire tourism is in good hands with new Team
The Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Team with South Ayrshire Councillors at their information event in Alloway.
A NEW Ayrshire and Arran group is set to take tourism by storm after impressing local businessmen and women who visited a dedicated set of roadshows last month.
During September the Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Team toured the region, visiting five venues and introducing themselves to people in the tourism industry through a series of information sessions.
The Team came to Girvan’s Woodland Bay Hotel on Wednesday September 26 and the Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway on Thursday September 27, as well visiting Irvine, Cumnock and Arran.
More than 80 people attended to find out more about the first round of projects to be developed over the coming months - including golf, water-sports, culture and heritage, and business communication.
The Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Team will implement development plans intended to increase visitor numbers and subsequently help create jobs across Ayrshire.
A joint collaboration between the industry and the three local authorities, the Ayrshire and Arran Tourism Strategy is a five-year plan outlining a vision for the growth and development of tourism in the area.
Mike MacFadyen, Chairman of Ayrshire Bed and Breakfast Association, said the Team’s information events gave a wonderful insight into Ayrshire and Arran’s tourism future.
“I have to say it looks to be in good hands,” he said. “The new Tourism Team who have recently been installed are very positive and enthusiastic given the momentous task they have ahead of them.”
Susan Crosthwaite of Ballantrae B&B Cosses Country House added: “Having been involved in this from its very beginnings I am thrilled that action is finally being taken to promote the great product that Ayrshire offers.
“It demonstrates how important working collaboratively promotes our strengths which will make Ayrshire a premiere tourism destination.”
Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council, said: “Ayrshire is an area of outstanding beauty with lots to offer residents and visitors. It is vital that we all work together to promote the wonderful experiences that people can have when they visit Ayrshire.”
