The Ballantrae Royals made their public debut at the Gala Party on Friday June 13: Queen, Abbie Littlejohn; King, Reece Boyd, Attendants. Robyn Agnew and Chloe Hibbins; Page Boy, William Whittington.

The crowning ceremony for the Ballantrae Gala week took place on Friday 13th June. There was entertainment provided by Ballantrae Primary school, and a band put together by Barry O’Hare called gonnabeepic. The band consisted of Robbie and Colin McNally on drums and fiddle, Conor Robertson on pipes and Jason Patterson on keyboards. They played Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace. The Rev Stephen Ogston then played a DVD he had made up from old galas in the 90s as well as the gala from 2013.

Gala week starts with a bang this year on Saturday 28th June with the Jock Boyd Memorial Competition. As well as the well attended fishing competition there will be events on the Foreland including bouncy castle, bottle stall, BBQ, slave auction, silent auction, face painting and raffle. Suzanne Lyle who is doing the face painting will also be doing a 3 hour sponsored silence to raise funds for a memorial bench for Jock. After the fishing competition results at approx 9.45pm-10.00pm there will be a bonfire and the evening will close with a spectacular firework display by Gordon McKie Pyroefx. Ballantrae Coast Guard will Marshall this event.

On Sunday 29 July the Rev Stephen Ogston will hold a family service in Ballantrae Church at 7pm.

On Monday 30th June the ever popular car treasure hunt will start from Kings Arms Hotel from 6.30pm-7pm staggered start

Tuesday 1st July - Friday 4th July is the Football Tournament sponsored by Mcculloch Rail at Ballantrae park. 7pm each night with final played directly after parade of floats on the Friday.

The Parade of Floats and fancy dress is on Friday 4th July 6pm in the park. We are looking forward to another great turnout. The last 2 years Ballantrae has shown great support and has had between 7-10 floats. Great effort for a wee village. Trophy for best float. The football final will follow on directly from this.

Saturday 5th July 1pm -4pm is Gala Day and we have a lot of new attractions this year. Waterballs, cartoon characters, sand art, face painting, candy floss, stalls, car boot, burger van, beer tent, tea tent, strawberry tarts, fresh pancakes, owls, Stinchar Valley Pipers, sports, tug o war, pet show, raffle, results of silent auction and much more.

Sunday 6th July is the Louise Knox memorial bowler/non bowler competition sponsored by Gordon McIlwraith at Ballantrae bowling Green 1pm. Always a great family event.

Ballantrae Gala Girls (always in pink tutus) would like to thank every single person who attends the gala and who all help throughout the year. There would be no gala without this continued support and each year more and more people are turning up to help and support the gala. We have been overwhelmed by the response this year and hope to see even more people over the week. The only theme our gala has is a family theme and every single event is open to the whole family from young to old.
