Carrick branding advances further

TOURISM business managers in South Ayrshire have enjoyed a sneaky peek at new Carrick branding materials ahead of the project’s launch this month.
Nearly 40 managers attended a Carrick brand and website workshop last week to have a say in shaping the final stages of tourism marketing materials following before the major launch in October. Carrick Community Councils’ Forum (CCCF), who commissioned the project five months ago after securing part-funding from Ayrshire LEADER, staged the event at Turnberry on Thursday to make local businesses privy to previews of the new design materials - including a logo, local tourism newsletter and website.
Aiming to boost tourism in the Carrick area south of attractions like Culzean Castle – which already receives around 170,000 visitors a year - it is estimated more than 400 people have been involved in the decision-making process thus far, with public consultation meeting held in Carrick towns and villages including Maybole, Straiton, Girvan and Lendalfoot throughout the summer.
Website designer Andy Simpson, who has worked on a number of international tourism, heritage and fashion campaigns, demonstrated the content and functionality of the marketing tool which promotes - for the first time ever - all the tourism businesses of Carrick.
Mr Simpson described the site as a good-looking bespoke website with a contemporary feel, and explained its functionality for use on phone, tablet or desktop computer.
CCCF Chair Peter Mason said response to the preview was positive.
“Everybody was really up for it and thought it was a fantastic idea,” he said. “I had no negative feedback.”
He added: “The website is absolutely fantastic. It is still in its embryo stage but you can see its potential.”
The Carrick brand artwork, brand guidelines, newsletter and new images will all be made available to Carrick businesses within the next week and it is intended that the website www.carrickayrshire.com will be launched by the end of October.
