It is with great pleasure that the Gazette reports on the work of 15 Girvan Academy pupils work in Nepal recently.
The youngsters were involved in helping to lay the foundations at a school in Bhaktapur.
Over the course of five days the pupils spent time laying the foundations which helped to build a wall around the school.
They also were involved in clearing two outbuildings which will be turned into two new classrooms.
Strong bonds were formed between the Girvan Academy pupils and those at the school in Nepal and this is something not only the parents of the kids that went on the trip should be proud of, but everyone in the town.
By all accounts it is an experience that will live with the kids for the rest of their lives and they have carried out a magnificent project in a country suffering from too much poverty. Well done to all involved including the Academy teachers on the trip.
