Carrick hotel is one of best in UK

A LUXURY Carrick hotel has been voted within the best 25 hotels in the UK.

Glenapp Hotel, situated within the 143-year-old Scottish Baronial-style Glenapp Castle near Ballantrae, has been ranked number 18 of 25 in this year’s Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The Relais & Châteaux hostelry was one of only five Scottish hotels to feature, and beat top names in hospitality, including Gleneagles and Glasgow’s Hotel du Vin, which came in at numbers 23 and 19 respectively.

Glenapp’s award comes on top of accolades, including being named Scottish Castle of the Year and Hotel of the Year (for Scotland and Northern Ireland) in 2006, as well as Restaurant of the Year and achieving Michelin Star status in 2011.

Hotel owner Fay Cowan said she was “really delighted” to receive the honour.

“Feedback from our guests is so important to us, whether it is written in our guest book in the castle library, on our guest questionnaire, given to us verbally on departure, or left on the Tripadvisor website,” she said.

“These guest comments keep us on the right track. All feedback is important but it is always good to know your guests have enjoyed their experience at the castle and will have great memories to take away with them.”
