Carrick Opportunities Centre offering courses in marketing and soft furnishings

 

The Carrick Opportunities Centre in Girvan is once again offering you the chance to sign up for some courses.

From Thursday 24 April, they will be offering a course in marketing at the building in Henrietta Street.

The free course will be held on Thursday afternoons from 1-3pm until 10th July and there will be no tests or exams during the course.

Those attending the course will learn in a group of people with a tutor from Ayrshire college and it will be run in a friendly atmosphere.

The course is for anyone who would like to learn something new and for anyone who is interested in selling a product or a service. It will teach you the basics of marketing and how you can use them in a practical way.

By the end of the course you will understand the basics of marketing and how you can use it yourself, you will know how to undertake market research and you will have completed a nationally recognised Scottish Qualifications Authority module in marketing.

The other course being offered will teach you how to make soft furnishings. The free course is being run on Friday mornings from May 2 from 10am-12 noon and there will be no tests or exams during the course.

Those attending this course will also learn in a group of people with a tutor from Ayrshire and it will be run in a friendly atmosphere.

This course is for anyone who would like to learn something new and for anyone who is interested in making home furnishings themselves.

You can find out how to use fabrics and techniques to create original interiors that are stylish, practical and original.

The course will help you to learn about different types of fabric and how to choose the best one, learn to use or improve your skills on a sewing machine and learn techniques such as applique, complete small projects such as padded scented hearts, tote bags, cushions, bunting and rag rug brooches.

By the end of the course you will have completed some small projects and made items which you can use in your own home or as gifts and you will have also learnt new skills which you can use again to make more items at home.
