Changes planned for community hospital
As part of the planning for the new mental health facility and community hospital on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site, members of the public are being asked to tell us what they think about the future temporary location of the continuing care service.
At the moment, 30 continuing care patients are cared for in Pavilion 6 at the hospital. This pavilion is part of the future site for the new hospital and will need to be demolished before construction can start. Members of the public and staff, along with interested stakeholder groups, are being asked to work with NHS Ayrshire & Arran to look at suitable alternative accommodation while building work is going on.
The board will hold meetings during March and April to discuss possible options for temporary accommodation. This may include the service being provided from other NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospitals.
Liz Moore, Director of Integrated Care and Emergency Services, said: “We want to work with the local community who may be affected by this temporary move. We recognise that it may mean families have to travel slightly further to visit their elderly relatives. We also know that it will affect the staff who provide the continuing care service in Pavilion 6.
“We want to work with all those affected by this move to try to keep disruption to a minimum and to find the best possible solution which will best meet our patients’ needs.”
If you would like to be involved, ask any questions or if you want to give your views on the changes to Pavilion 6, please get in touch by: writing free to Freepost RSXC-XULE-BCAU, NHS Ayrshire & Arran, NACH Programme Office, 23 Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock KA2 0BB, calling free to 0800 169 1441
