Last week, Maybole Community Councillors Michael Connell and Alan Murray went along to Carrick Academy to present a cheque to Carrick Academy Gardening Club Chair - Ryan Maxwell - for the work being done by the students at The Carrick Centre.

The club has been in existence for about three years and most of the members undertake the work in their own time.

Ryan outlined the ambitious plans for the space at The Carrick Centre, including a pergola, seating, troughs and planters for flowers plus a paved area. He also showed the community councillors around their existing greenhouse and said it was hoped to have another one shortly to help raise plants and vegetables for planting in the school gardens.

Mr Connell said he hoped the money would help with their plans at the Carrick Centre and wished the Club the best for the future.
