Christmas comes early to Carrick

It’s still early June, but already members of Girvan’s Christmas Street Party committee are making plans to make Christmas 2012 one of the best ever in the town - but they need YOUR help to make it happen.

Now they’ve thrown out an open invitation to anyone interested in helping with the Yuletide arrangements to come to their next meeting with ideas and suggestions.

It’s to take place in the Scout Hall in Glendoune Street, on Wednesday June 20th with a 6.30pm start. The Street Party committee is also looking for donations for its Tombola stalls at the forthcoming Gig on the Green and Harbour Gala.

Chairwoman of the committee, Jackie Anderson said “We’re hoping to make this year’s Street Party one of the best ever and a real family event. But we need all the support we can get to pull it off. So we are appealing for anyone out there with ideas or suggestions or who think they can help in any way to come forward with their offers of support. We aim to make it a real family affair and one that’s both entertaining and affordable for everyone.

“It may seem too early to be thinking about Christmas when we haven’t even seen the start of summer, but there’s a huge amount to be getting on with to make it the success we think the town deserves.”

Can’t make it to the meeting but want to help? You can contact Jackie at Dunlop’s Newsagents, Dalrymple Street Tel: 712107.
