Community payback for Girvan assault accused

A GIRVAN man who punched and spat on his girlfriend has been sentenced to 150 hours’ community service.

Darren Hamilton, 24, was bailed to an address at Dowhill Farm after he assaulted his partner at their Birch Terrace home in November.

He pled guilty to seizing Katie McDowall by the arm, repeatedly punching her on the head, forcing her to the floor and spitting on her when he appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court on February 20.

Sheriff John Montgomery sentenced Mr Hamilton to 150 hours’ voluntary work in the community and a 12-month supervision order.
