Dailly Primary School and Nursery Class will be taking part in a 7 week campaign, ‘Bin it to Win It’ and they a litter pick to help launch their ‘Bin it To Win It’ campaign on Tuesday 22nd October.
A litter sweep of their school ground in Dailly will aim to encourage pupils to dispose of their rubbish correctly and not simply throw it on the ground. T
They will also have to keep their classroom area tidy by using the correct recycle bins and ensure they clean their space after having lunch in the dinner hall. This initiative will encourage the children to focus on an important right of a child, to have a clean and tidy environment.
The school and employees from South Ayrshire Council’s antisocial behaviour team and waste management department will be working together on this scheme.
If pupils are spotted binning their waste by specially assigned ‘litter detectives’ and members of the staff, they will receive a special token and these are then entered into a weekly prize draw. A grand prize will be awarded at the end of this initiative.
Levels of litter will be monitored in and around the school and these will be analysed by the council’s waste management department.
