This weekend you will have the chance to visit some of Carrick’s most historic buildings as part of the annual Doors Open Day.
Girvan’s McKechnie Institute in Dalrymple Street which is 125 years old this year will be open on Saturday from 10.30am-4pm and on Sunday from 12noon-4pm.
And the Stumpy Tower will be open from 2pm-4pm on Sunday in the town centre to let you see exhibits inside including the 16th century wrought iron cannon.
In Kirkmichael, the new community shop and cafe will be open in Patna Road on both days from 7.45am-4pm. Currently thriving due to 50 volunteers, local arts and crafts will be on display.
Also in Kirkmichael, the Parish Church will be open on Sunday from 12noon until 4pm.
And in Straiton, the parish church which dates back to 1758 will be open on Sunday 1-4pm.
