Easter sporting events for Ayrshire

There’s never been a better time to get excited about sport, especially with the Commonwealth games on the horizon.

So get involved in South Ayrshire Council’s Easter Programme for young people which has it all this year!

As well as the usual popular sporting activities like football, tennis and golf coaching, there are more adventurous activities including kayaking, coastal rowing and diving on offer.

Activities – some of which are free – are being run right across South Ayrshire at a number of venues and facilities, meaning the only thing you have to do is choose what you want to do, where and when!

If track and field (and more) are your passion, then four fantastic sports taster events themed on Commonwealth Games sports are being held at the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr, Girvan Academy, Marr College and Prestwick Academy, where a host of exciting sports will be on offer to try for just £3 per session.

There’s a multitude of other activities on offer too – from archery, netball and golf to dancing!

Or, if you fancy a dip this Easter, why not visit one of South Ayrshire’s swimming pools where there will be a number of activities including inflatable and float sessions, pool discos and family fun sessions.

Councillor Bill Grant, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said: “It can often be difficult for young people and parents to know what to do when the school holidays start, and our fun-filled Easter programme provides every opportunity for them to enjoy a great time!

“Elsewhere, for the more adventurous 11-16 year olds, there are opportunities to have a bash at free coastal rowing sessions at Troon Marina or Maidens Beach, or to even take life saving classes. What could be more useful, or productive, than picking up a lifelong skill while on your Easter break? “

There’s something for everyone on offer in South Ayrshire this Easter, so make sure you don’t miss out. Pre-booking is essential for some of the activities. For further details, contact the individual venue or centre.
