The £246 million revenue budget for 2013/14, which was put forward by the Conservative, Labour and independent elected members, will fund the running costs of the Council’s operations, including employing more than 5000 staff to deliver a wide range of services.

To achieve the budget, almost £5 million has been identified in efficiency savings, which the Council say will help absorb unavoidable cost pressures such as contractual increases in electricity and gas prices as well as the impact of public sector reform changes.
