Maybole Community Council, with support from South Ayrshire Council’s Enterprise Service, is arranging an event to look at ideas for the future of the High Street and the Town Centre in general.
They would like to hear from people who have an interest in this topic to attend a Focus Group to look at this important subject and they have secured the services of Dairmaid Lawlor, a UK expert on town centres, to lead the event.
A spokesman for the Community Council commented, “We have carried out surveys, canvassed opinion and held a public meeting on this topic over the past few years but with the by-pass in the planning stages now, we need some practical ideas from those most affected to get a real sense of how the town centre opportunity might be different and a hit list of projects to pursue and obstacles to remove.”
The meeting will take place on Monday 24th February in The Carrick Centre from 7pm till 9pm.
Dairmaid Lawlor is the Head of Urbanism with Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS) described as ‘Scotland’s champion for excellence in architecture, placemaking and planning’. They celebrate good architecture and design and work with a range of communities to shape the places we all value and work through encouraging and inspiring the public to get involved with architecture through exhibitions, events and workshops.
They then offer informed advice to those responsible for the development of our places and promote sustainable approaches to building and placemaking.
