Five in hospital after road crash near Ballantrae

An 18 year old man is in a serious condition in the Southern General Hospital after being airlifted following a road traffic accident south of Ballantrae on Monday evening.

The incident occurred at 8.30pm after the 18 year old man who was driving a black Ford Fiesta northbound on the A77 appeared to cross the carriageway and collided with an Audi.

The 18 year old man has serious injuries to both his arms and legs.

The Audi was being driven by a 32 year old man travelling southbound with a 60 year old passenger in the vehicle.

They are both in a stable condition in Ayr Hospital.

Two 19 year-old males who were travelling with the 18 year old in the black Ford Fiesta are also in a stable condition in Ayr Hospital. All three are thought to be from Stranraer. Police are appealing for any witnesses who might have seen the Ford Fiesta earlier in the evening on the A77.

Anyone with any information should contact George McAsh of the Irvine Road policing unit on 101.
