A group of parishioners from the Sacred Hearts Parish in Girvan have come together to raise funds for the Ethiopian Medical Project by running a buffet supper with entertainment. There will also be a presentation of the work by the project.

The event will take place in the Catholic Hall in Henrietta Street on Sunday May 18 at 6pm. Tickets costing £10 can be bought at the Sweetie Shop in Girvan.

The event will provide support for a woman’s clinic in Buccana which is a deeply rural area of southern Ethiopia. This small expanding clinic works non stop to provide help for the surrounding community in the form of accomodation, food, blankets, clothes, medicines and staff for pregnant mothers.

It is the clinics intention in the future to provide more sophisticated and specialised kit like ultra sound and analagesics for mothers having their babies.

The group is delighted to have support and interest not only from the Wesley Singers who are providing the entertainment for the buffet supper but from other churches in the Girvan community.

All the funds raised will go entirely towards this clinic without any deductions.
