Girvan officers detect 3/4 of all reported crimes

DURING December and January Girvan Police officers had a crime detection rate of 75 per cent.

At the latest meeting of Girvan Community Council, on February 5, Girvan Sergeant Kevin McKeown confirmed there had been 375 incidents reported in the Girvan area since December 4, and, from those, 87 crime reports had been completed.

He assured community councillors there had been no reported housebreakings since Paul Barclay and Ross Nawarauckas were found guilty on four counts of burglary on January 9, and confirmed only one male had been reported for possesion of drugs with intent to supply.

Sergeant McKeown also gave details of the local force’s traffic safety action plan, which had seen 29 drivers reported for offences including drink-driving and speeding, as well as a number of tickets issued.
