The Girvan Rotary Club recently held a prize draw in order to help renovate their Santa’s sleigh.
The sleigh goes round Girvan and Dailly at Christmas time helping to raise money for children’s charity C.H.A.S.
However, the sleigh has been on the road for 35 years and is in need of some urgent attention.
With that in mind, the draw was held in the Royal Hotel in Girvan where some fantastic prizes were drawn by Charlie Robertson, granddaughter of the hotel’s owner, Mr Paul Rae.
Charlie who is 9 and goes to Dailly Primary spends her time at the Girvan Kids Club and the Dailly Sports Mix, but her favourite thing is playing football .
Charlie picked the winners of our main prizes and the lucky people were as follows:
The family swim – Mrs Eleanor Rae from the Cooperative Funeral Care .
Family day out at Culzean – Ms Anne Combe from Girvan Musical Society .
A days golfing for four at Brunston Castle Golf Club - Ms Helen Humphries of Golf Course Road .
And lastly a very expensive bottle of Grants whisky which was won by a dog called Ennis . The dog was under 18 and much debate was held as to wither a 5 year old could be given a bottle of whisky . However Ennis’s owner said he would look after the bottle and share it out on his behalf.
Many local people supported the Prize Draw but Mr John McClelland of Girvan Tyre and Exhausts, Mr Andrew McKie of Old Street Garage and Mr. Peter Noble a Girvan Rotarian were especially generous. Our thanks to them .
The Girvan Rotary meet each week on Tuesday’s at 6pm at the Royal Hotel and are fed by the Chef , Nancy Rae, wife of the owner of the hotel .
