Harbour gala day raises fantastic total

Girvan’s Harbour Gala made a fantastic total of just over £3000 on Sunday as crowds flocked to the annual fundraiser.

The weather was not looking good before noon on Sunday but at midday the King and Queen from Girvan Civic Week arrived on the lifeboat and brought the sunshine with them.

There was then music from local band Zephyr and dancing by Chi-Kaz school of dancers. There was a rowing boat demo out on the water from Carrick Coastal Rowing club before the exciting raft race began at 1.30pm.

At 3pm the RAF Helicopter paid a visit and carried out a display to the delight of the crowd.

And for a finale a dog rescue display was carried out by water safety team Aiyla Says.

Along with all that, there were stalls, a funfair, car boot sale, a prize raffle, treasure map, owl magic, a climbing wall from Adventure Centre for Education and burgers, tea and coffee to keep everyone happy as well as the chance to soak the lifeboatman.

Emergency services including the Galloway Mountain Rescue team, Fire Service and Scottish Ambulance Service also attended.

All proceeds on Girvan Harbour Gala go to the RNLI in Girvan.
