A LORRY travelling through South Ayrshire on one of Scotland’s busiest trunk roads ended up on a Carrick beach in the early hours of this morning.

Girvan Police officers attended the site at which the vehicle left the A77 at Lendalfoot at 2.40am this morning.

Speaking at approximately 9.30am today, Inspector Willie Ramsay said: “The driver was treated for minor injuries at Ayr Hospital and the road is partially closed at this time. It will be fully closed at some point in the future to allow the vehicle to be recovered.”

Police have since confirmed the road will be closed at around midnight tonight for this purpose.
