Improvements already evident at Girvan Harbour

Girvan Harbour

JUST weeks after contractors were appointed evidence of improvements at Girvan harbour are already apparent.

On January 30 the Carrick Gazette reported that work to Girvan Harbour was to start “imminently”, and last week we noticed changes were already underway.

By Thursday the old pontoons and all but one of the old pile guides had gone, with the only one remaining scheduled to have been removed by the end of this week.

On Monday a South Ayrshire Council spokesperson told us new pontoons and piles will be delivered to the site within the next few days and will be installed on an on-going basis over the next 3-4 weeks.

In total the improvement work, costing around £500,000, is expected to consist of 35 new pontoon berths for a range of vessel sizes, each with an electricity and water supply, secure quayside access, and CCTV security cameras.
