Pictured in Girvan harbour is “Geraldine Mary” the most recent new Salmon Farming vessel built by Alexander Noble and Sons Ltd.

Geraldine Mary is a 20-metre long twin screw landing craft type workboat, powered by twin 320 HP Doosan engines. She is built to carry around 60 tonnes of deck cargo and has a deck crane able to lift almost two tonnes when fully extended out to 14 metres – much more when closer in.

The boat is fully kitted out for permanent living on-board with full central heating, shower, galley and cabins.

Built for Meridian Salmon Farms, she will work between various fish farm sites in both the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands, this will mean frequent long passages from the Orkneys to the Shetlands.
