Letter outlines Maybole by-pass strategy

TRANSPORT Scotland have written to Maybole Community Council to outline the next steps for the new bypass after being asked by First Minister Alex Salmond to get in touch.

The letter said: “We now intend to appoint consultants by April to assist in the preparation of this long-awaited scheme, with a view to publishing draft orders in autumn 2013.

“The decision to proceed with the Maybole Bypass underlines our commitment to fulfilling the existing programme of A77 schemes in the short term, but also builds on that commitment to a longer term programme of investment in South West Scotland.”

The letter was discussed by community council members at their meeting last week.
