New 1660s exhibition at McKechnie

a new exhibition of what people got up to in Girvan in the 1960s has just opened in the McKechnie Institute and is already drawing a lot of attention from those locals and visitors alike who remember the “good old days”.

The exhibition is based on a recreation and leisure theme and visitors will be able to see some reminders of the town’s heyday as a holiday destination. Vespa scooters, Beatles jackets, iconic electric guitars and the local “cafe culture” are all remembered in this exhibition which has been mounted with the help of local people who have contributed to the display.

Special evening of old films of the town during that period are also planned before the end of the exhibition’s run. It’s well worth a visit.
