Nicola Kinghorn (nee Brown) has recently been appointed Home Manager at Fairknowe House in Maybole.

She is already part of the local community having been brought up in Maybole with family and friends still living in the town and local area.

Nicola started at Fairknowe House in August, having had experience of working for the Health Board and homes in Ayr and Kilmarnock for people living with dementia.

Nicola immediately set about building a highly qualified and responsive staffing team with the skills and experience needed to care for older people and ensuring all residents, irrespective of their nursing care needs and frailty, are treated as individuals with dignity by taking into account their likes, dislikes and interests.

Nicola is supported on a day-to-day basis by Heather Campbell Hanratty, the new Deputy Manager, and a team of nurses and care staff.

In addition, Fairknowe House has undergone a major facelift.

The communal areas have been redecorated with new soft furnishings and an increased number of rooms converted to single occupancy with en-suite facilities.

The original features of this period 40 bed registered home, which has stunning views across the beautiful Ayrshire countryside, have been retained.

The refurbishment only went ahead after an extensive consultation exercise involving residents and their carers and the results are proving very popular with residents and visitors.

Anyone interested in visiting Fairknowe House to meet Nicola and view the available rooms for permanent or respite care can telephone for an appointment on 01655 882308.
