Art lovers and collectors are being asked to consider buying a painting to raise funds for the Girvan lifeboat.
Ed Slater is an abstract painter of some renown who lives in Thornhill, Dumfries and Galloway and was one of the participating artists in the Open Studios event at Rozelle in Ayr where his paintings sold well.
Ed is an ex-serviceman who is known for donating a lot of the profits from his work to charity and has very generously donated his painting, The Tempest, to the RNLI to sell.
It has been decided that the Girvan station should be the beneficiaries of this generous gesture as it is currently celebrating 150 years in the town.
The picture is at present on display in the McKechnie Institute in Girvan with a reserve price of £850 where it may be viewed in the hopes that someone will wish to make an offer for this bright and attractive picture, and at the same time provide funds for a very worthwhile emergency service.
